Lab 2 Flashcards
What is the pneumonic for the brachial plexus?
“Rugby teams drink cold beer” aka Roots, Trunks, Divisions, Cords, Branches
What is this muscle? What is the origin, insertion, innervation, blood supply, and main action?
Subclavius
Origin: Junction of 1st rib and costal cartilage
Insertion: Inferior surface of middle 3rd clavicle
Innervation: Subclavian nerve
Blood supply: thoracoacromial artery
Action: anchors and depresses clavicle
Where is the conoid tubercle?
Middle arrow
How would you determine if a clavicle is right or left?
When looking at the superior angle (smooth surface) the conoid tubercle should point down and posterior, whichever side the conoid tubercle is on is the side of the clavicle
teres minor, medial pectoral nerve
What muscle is this? List the origin, insertion, innervation, blood supply and action.
Pectoralis Major
Origin:
- clavicular head: anterior surface of medial half of clavicle
- sternocostal head: anterior surface of sternum, superior 6 costal cartilages, aponeurosis of external oblique muscles
Insertion: lateral lip of intertubercular sulcus
Innervation: lateral and medial pectoral nerves
Blood supply: branch of thoracoacromial artery
Action: adduction, medial rotation, flexion of humerus, anterior and inferior mortion of the scapula
Which is the brachiocephalic artery?
Artery before the subclavian
Sternal extremity, right
Where are the coracoacromial, acromioclavicular, and coracoclavicular ligaments?
axillary
coracoacromial ligament
What muscle is this? List the origin, insertion, innervation, blood supply, and actoin.
Rhomboid Minor
Origin: Nuchal ligament, spinous processes of C7 to T1
Insertion: Medial border of scapula
Innervation: Dorsal Scapular Nerve
Blood Supply: Dorsal Scapular Artery
Action: Retraction and rotation of scapula to depress glenoid cavity. Fixation of scapula
What is the (i) functional and (ii) structural classification of the glenohumeral joint?
(i) triaxial
(ii) ball-and-socket
What muscle is this? List the origin, insertion, innervation, blood supply, and action.
Rhomboid Major
Origin: Spinous processes of T2 to T5 vertebae
Insertion: Medial Border of Scapula
Innervation: Dorsal Scapular Nerve
Blood Supply: Dorsal Scapular Artery
Action: Retraction and rotation of scapula to depress glenoid cavity. Fixation of scapula.
How would you determine left and right humerus?
Find the medial border
What does the brachial plexus consist of?
5 roots (C5 to T1)
3 trunks (superior, middle, inferior)
6 divisions (3 anterior, 3 posterior)
3 cords (lateral, posterior, medial)
5 terminal branches (musculocutaneous, axillary, radial, median, ulnar)
Where is the subdeltoid bursa?
beside the subacromial bursa, below the deltoid
Where is the brachial artery?
3
Where is the subcoracoid bursa?
below the coracoid process
What is the (i) functional and (ii) structural classification of the AC joint?
(i) nonaxial
(i) gliding
Acromion, right
Which is the basilic vein?
17
Greater tubercle, left
What muscle is this? List the origin, insertion, innervation, blood supply, action.
Teres Major
Origin: Posterior surface of inferior angle of scapula
Insertion: medial lip of intertubercular sulcus
Innervation: lower subscapular nerve
Blood supply: branch of subscapular artery, circumflex scapular artery
Action: adduction and medial rotation of humerus
What muscle is this? List the origin, insertion, innervation, blood supply, and action.
Supraspinatus
Origin: supraspinous fossa
Insertion: superior facet of greater tubercle
Innervation: suprascapular nerve
Blood supply: suprascapular artery
Action: adduction of humerus, acts with rotator cuff
