Q

What makes Mumbai’s structure unique?

A

Mumbai’s doesn’t exactly follow the land use model (Hoyt) used to describe developing countries.

Because it was built around the harbour, the CBD is not in the centre, but near the island tip.

Some industrial areas are near the port, but land is so expensive that many have moved to places such as Navi Mumbai, where land is cheaper

Similarity: High quality housing is also found in the inner city and poorer housing is found on the edge of the city.
