L5 Flashcards
What do we need to create a project schedule?
Network - logic
Estimates - time
Resource capability
Resource capacity
What is a project network?
A network representation of a project.
What are the activities in a project schedule?
Work packages
Events/milestones
What is the network in project scheduling?
The combo of all activities/events
Drawn left to right
Connections represent dependency
What is the path in project scheduling?
A series of connected activities from project start to end.
What is the critical path in project scheduling?
The longest path in a project network
Delay in any activity on the path = delay to the project
What is critical path analysis?
Calculating all the paths in the network to find the longest path. The longest path is the earliest time it can be completed.
What numbers do we need to find in a critical path analysis?
Earliest start time
Latest start time
Total float
What is the total float?
The difference between the LST and EST.
Shows how much flexibility you have in starting that activity.
What is the float time for critical activities?
0
What is the EST?
Earliest start time:
The start time if all predecessor tasks are started asap
What is the LST?
Latest start time:
If started afterwards, project completion will be delayed.
What do you work out in the forward pass?
The earliest start times
What do you work out in the backwards pass?
The latest start times.
What do you work out in the backwards pass?
The latest start times.
