L3.9 Molecular Targets of Drug Action Flashcards
1
Q
What are the types of receptors, their time scale and an example of each?
A
GPCR- seconds, ACh receptor
Ligand gated ion channel- milliseconds, nicotinic
Kinase linked receptor- hours, cytokine receptor
Nuclear receptors- hours, oestrogen receptor
2
Q
What are NM and NN?
A
Nm is the nicotinic receptor in skeletal muscle and NN is the nicotinic receptor in the CNS
3
Q
Where do alpha and beta adrenoceptors bind?
A
α1-adrenoceptors on most blood vessels
α2-adrenoceptors on some nerves
β1-adrenoceptors predominate in the heart
β2-adrenoceptors on bronchi and some blood vessels
