L3.5 Bacterial Pathogenesis Flashcards

1
Q

What are Kochs postulates?

A
  • Organism found in all patients with disease

Q

What are the features of K88 and what did K88 and the vaccine do in pigs?

Q

How does tetanus occur?

A

Caused by clostridium tetani because spores get into umbilical stump. Spores get into dead tissue of umbilical cord, produce toxins. Vaccine for tetanus is DPT - immunise mother - IgG antibodies cross placenta and baby is immune to clostridium tetani.
