Q

What do T cells do to increase macrophage activity once in the tissue?

A

Use CD40 to stimulate ability to fight infection and make interferon gamma to boost macrophage ability

Q

What cytokines lead to what types of T cells?

A

IL-12 - TH1, monocytes/macrophages
IL-4 - TH2 eosniohils, basophils, mast cells
IL-6 TH17 neutrophils

Q

What do regulatory T cells do?

A

Produce IL-10 and TGF-B and when the cell is exposed to these it will undergo apoptosis or its function will be inhibited (elimination of RT cells causes autoimmune diseases)

Q

What do cytotoxic T cells do?

A

Recognise antigen on surface and can punch holes in the receiving cell or can provide cytokines for lysing

What do gamma/delta T cells do?

A

Sit in the epidermis or dermis of skin, have an important role in psoriasis

Q

What is the fate of effector T cells?

A

95% die, the rest that are left go back to being pseudo naive T cells and increase immunological memory for if the pathogen is re-encountered
