A
  1. Nominal - data can be categorised but not ordered. The relevant statistic is frequency
  2. Ordinal - data can be categorised and ranked but the differences between data cannot be measured. Relevant statistic is frequency
  3. Interval - data can be categorized, ranked, and have equal intervals between data points. relevant statistic is mean
  4. Ratio - data can be categorized, ranked, have equal intervals, and true zero points. a true zero means there is an absence of the variable of interest
