What is Quantitative Data?

  • Involves numbers, measured objectively

- Includes dependent variable in ex, closed q, structured interviews and tallies

What is Qualitative Data?

A
  • Involves words and subjective interpretation
  • e.g open questions, unstructured interviews and observations
  • Hard to analyse due to subjective/biased interpretation, and it is hard to categorise/collect

A
  • Collected directly by researcher

What is secondary data?

A
  • Info collected for a purpose other than its current use. Researcher use data for a different study and apply it to their research.
  • There is variation in quality and accuracy of secondary data, so it is hard to tell if it’s reliable

What is a Meta-analysis?

A
  • Process of combining results from many studies of one topic to provide an overall view
  • Allows results to be generalised across larger populations
  • Prone to publication bias where researcher leaves out studies with negative/non significant results
