L11 “gallbladder” Flashcards
biliary system consists of
liver, gallbladder & bile
ducts
biliary system is involved in
production➡️ hepatocytes
storage➡️ gallbladder
transportation of bile➡️ common bile duct
Bile is secreted by
Liver or hepatocytes at a constant rate of about 40 ml
per hour
When digestion is not occurring bile is stored and concentrated in
gallbladder
When digestion is occurring bile is delivered to
the 2 Part of duodenum.
Bile ducts consist of
• Bile canaliculi
• Interlobular ducts
• Intrahepatic ducts
• Right and left hepatic ducts
• Common hepatic duct
• Gallbladder & Cystic duct
 • Common bile duct
Cystic duct is a continuation of
The neck of gallbladder
Cystic duct united with Common hepatic duct to form
Common bile duct
liver cells secrete
bile
bile canaliculi carry the bile to
interlobular ducts
interlobular ducts join one another to form
larger ducts and at the porta hepatis form the right and left hepatic ducts
right hepatic duct drains the
right lobe of the liver
left hepatic duct drains the
left lobe, the caudate lobe, &
quadrate lobe
the caudate lobe, & quadrate lobe part of RT lobe
Anatomically
the caudate lobe, & quadrate lobe part of LT lobe
Physiologically “functionally ”
Right and left hepatic duct united to form
common hepatic duct
Length of common hepatic duct
1.5 inch (4 cm) long
الدبل يكون 3 انش
common hepatic duct is descends within the free margin of
the lesser omentum
Origin of cystic duct
the gallbladder
Length of The common bile duct
about 3 inches (8 cm) long
The common bile duct is descends within the free margin of
lesser omentum along with portal vein and hepatic artery
Posterior to portal vein
Inferior vena cava
