What is the definition of health?
A state of physical, mental and social well-being
What is fitness?
The ability to meet the demands of the environment
What four factors is fitness made up of?
The four S’s, suppleness, stamina, speed, strength
What is suppleness?
The range of movement possible at a joint
What is stamina?
Endurance, the ability to keep going
What is strength?
Muscle strength
What is speed?
Moving muscles quickly
How does regular exercise benefit the heart?
Strengthens it, reducing heart disease
How does regular exercise benefit the bones?
Strengthens them, reducing the chances of osteoporosis
What is osteoporosis?
A systematic skeletal disorder caused by low bone mass
How does regular exercise benefit mental well-being?
Reduces stress, by releasing mood-enhancing chemicals in the brain
