holistic approach of illness-wellness model
Negative - require more than just symptoms and disease
Explore patient beliefs, psychosocial circumstances & individual/family history
psychological factors on health - 2 factors
Personality-
More conscientious =lower risk of premature death
Optimists less likely to experience same stimulus as painful
Social factors on health
DIrect effect, positive mood and related psychosocial influences on endocrine and immune functions
Indirect -
Better social support more likely to use health service + adhere to medication
Better social relationship lower risk of premature death
Social support beneficial on stress in immune, neuroendocrine and cardio systems
