Why is research an ethical undertaking?
It aims to decrease human suffering
Explain the dualism in the aim of research in comparison to doctor patient interactions.
The core of doctor patient interactions is to act in the patients best interests. Research tries to figure out how to this in the best way however in order to figure this out they may need to suspend those best interests
What is an altruist act, explain it in the context of medical research?
An altruist act is something that will benefit society as a whole however doesn’t clearly benefit the individuals who participate in the research. In the context of medical research, it may help future sufferers of a disease but may not directly benefit the individuals who participated in the research
