Word of God given to certain Prophets
Allah provided Adam and the prophets who came after him with instructions on how they should live.
The Tawrat of Musa
The Torah contains Allah’s revelation to Moses
The Zabur of Dawud
The Psalms contains Allah’s revelation to David
The Injil of Isa
The Gospel contains Allah’s revelation to Jesus
Over time Allah’s message and written texts became distorted so they were no longer the true word of God
Allah’s final revelations was through the Qur’an. Muslims believe that this is a record of Allah’s words exactly as they were said and that they have not been changed
Difference between Shi’a amd Sunni on beliefs on Qur’an
- sunni muslims believe Qur’an has always been in existence, thought nit in its written form, and that it is eternal like Allah.
- shi’a muslims believe that the Qur’an is not eternal and that it was created by Allah. They also believe that it can be added to by the Imams, whi can interpret it’s message

Opinions on the Hadith and Sunna
- some muslims believe that because this is not the exact word of Allah they should not be used and only the Qur’an should be followed
- Shi’a muslims refer ro the Hadith of Ali, whom they believe was the first Imam after Muhammad, to help their decision-making
- muslims might also refer to the opinion of Muslim lawyers and scholars
