Kp Flashcards
Define partial pressure
The pressure a gas in a mixture of gases would exert alone if it occupied a vessel of the same volume at the same temperature
What does Dalton’s Law of partial pressures state?
The total pressure of a mixture of ideal gases is the sum total of all the partial pressures of the gases
How do you find the concentration of an ideal gas
Use pV=nRT and rearrange to get (n/v)=p/(RT)
Define mole fraction
The fraction of the total number of moles which is that gas
What should the total of all the mole fractions equal?
1
Give the equation to find the partial pressure
mole fraction x total pressure
Is Kp affected by changes in the total pressure?
No
Is Kp affected by changes in partial pressures of the products or reactants?
No
Is Kp affected by the presence of a catalyst?
No
Is Kp affected by temperature?
Yes
