Through pranayama. Just switch two letters. WHoaaaa.
How is manomaya kosha transcended?
transcend by adhering to the yamas and niyamas; engage in selfless service
How is vijnanamaya kosha transcended?
through meditation and studying spiritual texts
How is annadamaya kosha transcended?
Through meditation and Samadhi
Do the koshas end in Samadhi?
Not directly. If one only stays within the koshas, he/she will still reincarnate until all sheaths are transcended
Describe annamaya kosha
Only our skin bag/ physical body and its birth and death. It is made up of digested and transformed food. Any pleasure here lacks longevity.
Describe Pranamaya kosha
not visible. the layer in which the self is expressed. Related to breath and vitality. Noursihed by food, sunlight, and breath.
Describe manomaya kosha
A subconscious sheath. The mind receives information and desire begins here. Thoughts, emotions, memories, and imagination are here.
Describe vijnanamaya kosha.
contains knowledge/wisdom/ego/and I-AM ness. Innate knowledge of right and wrong. Separates humans from animals. Asking “who am I” after developing self.
Describe anandamaya kosha
most subtle layer. Latent tendencies and desire here along with soul experiences from previous births. Gives a sense of connectedness to the divine.
What is Atman?
Inner self or soul. The goal of the koshas–to return to the true self (achieved alongside Samadhi).
