What cycle of rebirth is associated with each guna?
sattva: stainless heavens; rajas: rebirth among those attached to action; tamas: rebirth among the deluded
What is the fruit of rajas?
suffering
what is the fruit of tamas?
ignorance
What is the fruit of sattva?
action well done and without stain
Where do men of each trait move?
sattvic men go up, rajasic men remain, and tamasic men sink downward
What happens when a human goes beyond the gunas?
It frees the yogi from the body and the sorrows of birth, old age, and death–leading to immortality and ultimate freedom
What are qualities of a man who has gone beyond the three gunas?
he is content with whatever happens, sees dirt and rocks and gold as equal, he is indifferent to praise and honor and disgrace and blame, he is impartial to friend and foe, unattached to action, and serene in success and failure.
