A
  • Ensure crews understand audio/visual warning of DMZ
  • Monitor VHF/UHF Guard, mantain 2-way commo with FCC
  • Brief A Co requirements (518) in mission briefing CL
  • 1:50,000 map of P518 (with a list of things to have on)
  • Be qualified in sector/NFA you are entering, oriented in that given sector (means the boundaries which you have flown) and fly there every 180 days

Must be NFA qualified aviator

  • recieved orientation flight from UT. 3 training flights in applicable NFA
  • can navigate with aid of map
  • qualified trainers must have a flight there every 90 days. other must have qual flight again.

  • NFA Entry point (w/time =/-15min)
  • NFA Exit point (w/time =/-15min)
  • Respond every 10min flight following
  • must be flown with qualled PC. only lead must be qual
  • 70kt max A/S
  • Ctc FCC to confirm corridor flight is good
  • Squawk 7721 South of NFL, 7731 North of NFL in NFA

DMZ Visual Warning aids

A

If you see these turn 150-170

  • T-Markers (14X17) T is oriented north, 2000m South of DMZ, 2000m apart, near prominent terrain features
  • A/C Warning Panels (2x2.4m) Orange panels 300-400m apart, parallel and south of DMZ, some are white Xs painted on face of the panel

DMZ Visual Warning Signals

A
  • Will warn aviators with red smoke, white/red star clusters, red/white star parachutes
  • last resort - fire 5.56 tracer ammo in front of A/C

DMZ Aural Warnings

A

“HOT DOG”
(repeated until A/C heads south)
- every 30s, utilizing all freqs. All A/C who hear it must turn South. When terminated you can resume mission

“JACK RABBIT”
(clear NFL/NFA/518)
- for emergency situations to clear the entire P518 airspace
- get out of P-518 by quickest means possible

TZEA doesnt require P518 orientation, night clearance, Wx Mins
- MPRC Corridor Wx Mins is 1000-3, MBO must be P518 /NFL/NFA current

A

Aircrews should stick to rules of the road (right)
To transmit flight plan to guardian following info:

Miscellanous

A
  • Use of ipads authorized unless prohibited by AWR
  • Using camera/video recorder not authorized unless annotated on brief sheet
  • Cannot fly with overdue ALSE
  • NVG flights with multi A/C need 2 RL1 CE’s
  • Max of 5 in the pattern, plan only 4
  • Aided/unaided won’t be mixed in same flight/formation
  • Responsible unit must keep track of PAX, PC only must submit 2CAB organic names to flight ops
  • When hovering, maintain 500’ slant range from population etc.
  • Shift lag (showtimes adjust by 8hrs)

  • Overwater mins will not be below 1000’ AWL and 3SM VIS in 2 quadrants
  • Will update Wx every stopover
  • IIMC will be briefed before every flight
  • IIMC altitude is 7700 w/in 100nm of Seoul
