What are the key components of the respiratory system?
Larynx, Trachea, Bronchus, Intercostal Muscles, Bronchioles, Alveoli, Ribs, Lungs, Diaphragm Muscles.
What happens during inspiration?
Air enters the lungs during inspiration (breathing in).
What happens during expiration?
Air leaves the lungs during expiration (breathing out).
What is the function of the bronchus?
The bronchus carries air to each of the lungs.
What are bronchioles?
Bronchioles are the smaller airways that branch from the bronchi.
What are alveoli?
Alveoli are tiny air sacs where the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide occurs.
What is the role of the diaphragm during inspiration?
During inspiration, the diaphragm contracts and flattens.
What is the role of the diaphragm during expiration?
During expiration, the diaphragm relaxes and returns to dome shape.
