16
Q

valgus stress (direct force outside of knee) injury leads to dx…

A

MCL with
medial menisucs? with
ACL?

17
Q

twisting injury of knee leads to dx…

A

ACL+ or - menicus

dislocation of patella

18
Q

direct blow to anterior tibia with flexed knee injury leads to dx…

A

PCL

19
Q

direct blow to patella or femoral condyle

A

patellar fx

chondral fx of articular surface

20
Q

Patellofemoral Pain syndrome

A

overuse of knee
bilateral, anterior part of knee
worse with activity that loads ie steps OR theaters sign
no effusion

21
Q

Pes Ancerine Bursitis

A

Inflammation to medial knee
Spontanouse pain medial to knee
Self limiting- stretch/rehab

22
Q

1st degree ligament sprain

medial or lateral collateral ligament

A

Ligament fibers attached
Tenderness along body of ligament
Minimum or no swelling
No joint widening with ligament stress

23
Q

2nd degree ligament sprain

A

Partial avulsion of fivers from femoral condyle
Pain at joint line of ligament insertion
Swelling with tenderness localized to attachment point
Slight to moderate increase in joint widening with stress

24
Q

3rd degree ligament sprain

A

Complete rupture of ligament (often associated with anterior or posterior cruciate ligament tears or tibial plateau fractures
Significant pain at ligament insertion and joint line
Significant swelling with ecchymosis
Increased joint widening with minimum stress

25
Q

Thessaly test

A

for meniscal tear
pt stand on one foot, slight bent, twist
pain = +/injury

26
Q

Mc Murray Test

A

for meniscal tear
Pain with palpation = (+)
Compress/grind meniscal tissue- listen for click or snap

27
Q

Lachman Test

A

ACL tear specific
Best overall in ruling in /out
Pt lay supine, knee 30 degrees, make c clamp on thigh, then use thumb to anterior pull on tibia – movement = abnormal

28
Q

Meniscus Injuries

A

Crescent shaped fibrocartilaginous structure on articular surface of tibia-Shock absorbers for knee, control knee motion
Medial is torn more freq than lateral
Joint effusion,Tenderness along joint line, Pt feels unstable, Quads atrophy
Mcmurray test-Apley compression test-Thessaly test
DX: MRI or xray for bone abnormality r/o
RICE, crutches , non-weight bearing, rehab

29
Q

ACL injuries

A

loose with knee in flexion, keep femur and tibia relationship in line,
pop feeling, swelling, hamstring spasm
Lachman, anteior drawer
Dx: xray, MRI
Tx: conservative partial, brace, immobilize, non-weight,rehab, 6-9 months recovery
