A single story
Enlightenment=> capitalist markets and modern science=> technology, techniques work like mass production=> more efficient exploitation of workers - workers bodies and livelihoods become sacrifice zones. Technologies like stream engines=> more efficient colonialism and resource extraction - but require resources like fossil fuels. Resources extraction of fossil fuels=> places and workers become sacrifice zones. More efficient extraction and production=> greater profits. Capitalist system mean more profits=> reinvestment in more efficient technologies
