It is important for a business to remain competitive which can act as a driving force if a competitor is dominating a particular market.
Legislation:
Changes in federal, state or local government laws can force a business to implement changes otherwise they may face penalties. Businesses must be able to respond quickly to change.
Pursuit of profit:
Profit is one of the key business objectives meaning profit gain is a major driving force in a business.
Reduction of costs:
relates back to profit gain as it is the quickest way to gain profit.
Globalization:
Can encourage a business to enter new overseas markets in order to take advantage of new customer bases and remain competitive.
Technology:
Constant improvements in technology can initiate change as tech advances allow a business to remain competitive.
Innovation:
Being able to develop new ways of thinking will allow a business to remain competitive, therefore acting as a driving force.
Societal attitudes:
Businesses need to be able to keep up with the changing beliefs and trends of customers and develop new operations in order to remain competitive and risk falling behind.
