Place where house of Omri rules from in Israel. Omri buys the hill of Samaria (Shomron).
Ahav.
Son of Omri Northern King. Is led astray by his foreign wife Jezebel. Really bad King because of idolotry. Dies in battle against the Syrians when a stray arrow hits him.
Izevel
Daughter of King of tyre. Wife of Ahab. She forces worship of Baal and prosecutes prophets of the God of Israel.

steward of the palace to Achav. Hides prophets of God in caves to protect them from Izebel.
Mt. Carmel
place of Baal vs. God contest with Elijah.Test between prophets of Baal and Elijah to prove the power of God. When only Elijah’s offering is accepted by going up in fire the people revolt and kill the prophets of Baal.

Refuses to sell his vineyard to King Ahab. Jezebel plots against him and has him framed for cursing God and the King.

Solomon asks God for help in ruling. Because of the way he asks he gets lots of Wisdom

Kings 1 5:12-14
And he spoke three thousand proverbs; and his songs were a thousand and five.
And he spoke of trees, from the cedar that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall; he spoke also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.
And there came of all peoples to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.

Kings 1 11:30
And Ahijah laid hold of the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces.
Prophecy of Ahijah to Jeroboam that he will take ten of the tribes from Solomon.
אִם-הַיּוֹם תִּהְיֶה-עֶבֶד לָעָם הַזֶּה וַעֲבַדְתָּם, וַעֲנִיתָם, וְדִבַּרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם דְּבָרִים טוֹבִים–וְהָיוּ לְךָ עֲבָדִים, כָּל-הַיָּמִים.
Kings 1 12:7
‘If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.’
Advise of the elders to Rehoboam to lessen the burder and the people will stay loyal
קָטָנִּי עָבָה מִמָּתְנֵי אָבִי.
Kings 1 12:10
My little finger is thicker than my father’s loins.
The young mens advice to not lessen burder and concede with the people.
אָבִי הֶעְמִיס עֲלֵיכֶם עֹל כָּבֵד, וַאֲנִי, אוֹסִיף עַל-עֻלְּכֶם; אָבִי, יִסַּר אֶתְכֶם בַּשּׁוֹטִים, וַאֲנִי, אֲיַסֵּר אֶתְכֶם בָּעַקְרַבִּים.
Kings 1 12:11
And now whereas my father did burden you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.’
Rehoboam’s response to the people.
מה-לָּנוּ חֵלֶק בְּדָוִד וְלֹא-נַחֲלָה בְּבֶן-יִשַׁי לְאֹהָלֶיךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל
Kings 1 12:16
‘What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse; to your tents, O Israel
People rejecting house of David- decide to split kingdom.
הִנֵּה אֱלֹהֶיךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל, אֲשֶׁר הֶעֱלוּךָ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם
Kings 1 12:28
behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.’
Jeroboam says to the people when he sets up golden calfs in beth el and dan

Kings 1 13:2
O altar, altar
Prophecy against Jeroboam and the northern kingdom. That their alter will be destoryed
וְהַמִּזְבֵּחַ נִקְרָע, וַיִּשָּׁפֵךְ הַדֶּשֶׁן מִן-הַמִּזְבֵּחַ: כַּמּוֹפֵת, אֲשֶׁר נָתַן אִישׁ הָאֱלֹהִים–בִּדְבַר יְהוָה
Kings 1 13:5
The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.
The alter responds to the prophecy.
לא-אָכַל הָאַרְיֵה אֶת-הַנְּבֵלָה, וְלֹא שָׁבַר אֶת-הַחֲמוֹר.
Kings 1 13:28
and the ass and the lion standing by the carcass; the lion had not eaten the carcass, nor torn the ass.
the man of god the prophecized against North, doesn’t listen to God and accepts food. His punishment is death- but his body is not eaten.
הַאַתָּה זֶה עֹכֵר יִשְׂרָאֵל
Kings 1 18:17
‘Is it thou, thou troubler of Israel?’
Ahav calls Elijah trouble of Israel
עַד-מָתַי אַתֶּם פֹּסְחִים עַל-שְׁתֵּי הַסְּעִפִּים
Kings 1 18:21
How long halt ye between two opinions?
Elijah yells at the people. CHoose sides already are you for Baal or for God.
קִרְאוּ בְקוֹל-גָּדוֹל כִּי-אֱלֹהִים הוּא–כִּי שִׂיחַ וְכִי-שִׂיג לוֹ, וְכִי-דֶרֶךְ לוֹ; אוּלַי יָשֵׁן הוּא, וְיִקָץ.
Kings 18:27
And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said: ‘Cry aloud; for he is a god; either he is musing, or he is gone aside, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.’
Elijah mocks Baal worship during contest on Mt Carmel.
יְהוָה הוּא הָאֱלֹהִים, יְהוָה הוּא הָאֱלֹהִים
Kings 18:39
The LORD, He is God; the LORD, He is God.’
people shout when they see fire of God, since Elijah and God won contest against Baal
קַנֹּא קִנֵּאתִי לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֵי צְבָאוֹת, כִּי-עָזְבוּ בְרִיתְךָ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל–אֶת-מִזְבְּחֹתֶיךָ הָרָסוּ, וְאֶת-נְבִיאֶיךָ הָרְגוּ בֶחָרֶב; וָאִוָּתֵר אֲנִי לְבַדִּי, וַיְבַקְשׁוּ אֶת-נַפְשִׁי לְקַחְתָּהּ.
Kings 1 19:10
‘I have been very jealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant, thrown down Thine altars, and slain Thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.’
Elijah runs to the desert and asks to die because no one follows God. Elijah zeal for God.

Kings 1 19:12
a still small voice.
Elijah hears from God in desert. God does not appear like at Sinai revelation in thunder and smoke.
הֲרָצַחְתָּ, וְגַם-יָרָשְׁתָּ

Kings 1 22:17
‘I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd;
When going agains Aram in war with the help of Jehosaphat of Judah, Ahav asks true prophecy from Micaiah and he gets the answer that it won’t be succeful.
Omri
After the troops heard that Zimri killed Elah and the house of Baasha, they revolted and killed Zimri. Omri becomes king (and is the father of Ahab)
