What is the Kingdom of God?
God’s authority and rule (not a place). Seen among Jesus’ followers.
How did the Kingdom of God begin
- It began when Jesus was born
- It was established through his resurrection and the coming of the Holy Spirit
- It is extended (spread) by Christians
- It will be completed at the end of time (heaven)
What are the values of the Kingdom of God
- Forgiveness
- Love
- Peace
- Obedience to God
- Serving God
- Humility
What are the 4 marks/qualties of the Catholic Church
The Church is:
One - The Church is one united body (individual Churches are part of the one)
‘May they all be one Father’
Holy - Christians and the Church are guided by the Holy Spirit
Catholic - (universal) - beliefs of the Church are held by Catholics worldwide
Apsotolic - Church’s teachings are built on the teachings of the 12 apostles
Their successors guide the Church today
What is the Nature of the Catholic Church
The Catholic Church is:
Conciliar - Catholic Church teachings are issued by a council.
Pontifical - The pope is the representative of Christ on earth – his teachings must be taken very seriously and can be declared infallible.
