The belief that due to heavy immigration, America would become a nation of immigrants
Define Indigenous
People who are native to a region of land
What are Nativists?
People who were born in the USA who felt it was necessary to protect the USA from Immigrants
What was Yellow Peril?
The fear of the amount of immigrants in Britain and the USA
What were Orange Riots? When and where did they happen?
Orange riots occurred in 1871 and 1872 in New York between Cathoic and Protestant Irish Immigrants
Define Yankees
A term to describe people living in North America
What were carpetbaggers?
Northern Merchants who raided the South after the Civil War and rolled up what they robbed in carpets
What were scalawags?
People from the South who went to work with Northerners to benefit their own conditions after the Civil War
What was the Granger Movement?
A movement in the South and the West to promote agriculture
What are sharecroppers?
Someone who could work on land as a tenant and the landowner gets a share of what the tenant produces
What is The Black Exodus?
The large scale migration of African Americans from The South to Kansas
What is the Ku Klux Klan?
A white supremacist group which terrorises and executes African Americans

Being racist to Jewish people
What is the belief of Social Darwinism?
The theory that in society, some gain wealth and status due to being biologically superior to others
What is Native Plutocracy?
The act of Wealthy White Americans controlling the Federal Government
