Define developmental delay
A child has not reached expected milestones in the expected timeframe. It can be temporary or on going.
Define global developmental delay
A developmental delay across all domains: cognitive, social, physical, communicative, behavioural and emotional.

Define developmental disability
A person develops a disability before 18 years of age which continues throughout the life span. It constitutes a substantial impairment to function. Some examples include:
- Down syndrome
- Cerebral palsy
- Autism
Define early intervention
Therapy services for children under the age of 6. Therapy at this age can have a considerable impact as there is a high level of neuroplasticity.
