Battle of Trenton
Where: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware.
What Happened: Washington’s soldiers were crossing the Delaware River on Christmas Day, and the next morning they surprise attacked the Hessians.
Battle of Saratoga
Where: New York
What Happened: The British were outnumbered and were forced to surrender. The colonists victory was a turning point in the war because it inspired the French to help the colonists fight the British.
Battle of Yorktown
Where: Virginia
What Happened: This was the winning battle of the Revolution. We had them cornered by land and sea thanks to the French. General Cornwallis had to surrender.
Valley Forge
Where: Pennsylvania
What Happened: Washington’s army spent the winter of 1777-1778, 1/4 of troops died from disease and malnutrition. Steuben come and trains troops.
