Q

Cues

A

Triggers that help recall. Can be meaningful, this means it is linked to what we are trying to recall or non meaningful, these are cues that work because they were also present when the memory was created. Context dependent cues is when memory recall is dependent on external cues e.g. place, weather, environment, smell, etc and increases when those cues are present or decreases when they’re absent.

Q

Cued recall

A

This is when we have assistance from a cue. For example, if you could not remember somebody’s name you could give the first letter. The cue has a link to the memory we are trying to recall.
