What type of drug is ketamine?
A
- It is a NMDA receptor antagonist
- Short half-life (1-3 hours)
- Rapid onset of action
- Increases myocardial oxygen demands
- careful use with cardiac patients
- At sedative dose- can increase ICP
- avoid in head trauma or neurological disease
- Microdoses and in combination with other drugs improves both pain and reduction of Reperfusion Injury
