What is a keratoacanthoma?
A
Benign epithelial tumour, more common with advancing age.

What is the appearance of a keratoacanthoma?
A
Like a volcano or crater
Initially a smooth dome-shaped papule
Rapidly grows to become a crater centrally-filled with keratin

What is the prognosis of keratoacanthoma?
A
Spontaneous regression of keratoacanthoma within 3 months is common, often resulting in a scar.

What is the treatment of keratoacanthoma?
A
Lesions should be urgently excised as it if difficult to exclude squamous cell carcinoma.
