where is kashmir located?
between india and pakistan
what was the british partition?
india was a british colony until britain gave it independence after wwii
the british had to decide how to split up india, as different regions had majority religions
the british decided to create a muslim majority pakistan and hindu majority india, however their maps were faulty and outdated
what followed after the partition?
large amounts of violence and chaos ensued after the partition as many people tried to move from india to pakistan and vice versa
during that time many people attacked these people that were trying to relocate
what is siachen glacier
an important glacer in kashmir that feeds major rivers in both india and pakistan
what was article 370 and how did its repeal affect people?
article 370 gave kashmir autonomy but india repealed it in 2019
this caused lots of protests and a military response to keep a lid on these protests
as a result, many people were killed or injured and many others were arrested without real reasons
what is hard power?
the forceful use of economic and military means to achieve a geopolitical goal
what is soft power?
the use of other mean besides economic and military means (e.g. technological, cultural, academic, etc) to attain geopolitical goals
what are the three major industries in kashmir and how have they been affected?
the top 3 industries are apples, tourism, and made goods
apple selling routes have been blocks, tourism has been blocked, which also affected made goods as a result
