Abuse/Neglect Petition
A document that Initiates court intervention on behalf of the children that are considered to have been victims of abuse or neglect.
Guardian adlitem
Often attorneys appointed to represent the interests of a underage or incompetent party to the case in juvenile court.
Permanency
A term that refers to the ultimate goal for the minor child in the case.
Status offence
A behavior that is prohibited from one of the people example; truancy.
Arraignment
A formal reading of charges.
Adjudication/Adjudicatory Hearing
A hearing in which the judge hears and weighs evidence to determine whether the allegations are true.
Disposition hearing
A hearing in which a judge determines how the case will go forward after allegations are admitted or adjudicated and upheld.
