Misdemeanor
General name for criminal offenses that are not as serious as felonies.
Felony
A general name for criminal, offenses that are serious in nature; may be punishable by more than a year and prison.
Degree
Denotes or rates the severity of the crime with first-degree being the most severe.
Felony murder
A murder committed during the commission of a felony.
Manslaughter
Unlawful killing of another without malice.
Assault
An offense in which the perpetrator threatens bodily harm on victim and has the present ability to cause it.
Sexual assault
An offense in which a perpetrator forces sexual contact on a victim.
Statuary Rape
Sexual intercourse between an adult and the minor under a statutorily designated age.
Child molestation/Sexual abuse
Any form of sexual activity on or involving a child under age designated by the state.
Pandering/Pimping
The action or practice of controlling prostitutes and arranging clients for them, taking part of their earnings in return.
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Illegal possession of equipment used for making, using, or concealing drugs.
Possession of a controlled substance
The crime of having prohibited drugs and once possession.
Possession with intent to deliver
Offense involving having drugs in order to give them to another person.
Open container
Charge given when defendant is accused of having an open alcoholic beverage in the car or public place.
