What is a criminal case?
People accused of crimes appear to court for trial. Witnesses provide evidence. A jury decides if someone is guilty or innocent
What is the two main jobs of the Federal Courts?
Make sure laws are enforced fairly and interpret the laws
What is a civil case?
Courts use the law to settle civil conflicts. The court decides in favor of one side or the other
What does article three make?
It created the national court (Supreme Court) and it gave Congress the power to set up lower courts
What are the two kinds of lower federal courts?
District Courts and Circuit Courts
What are the levels of courts from low to high?
Supreme court- Final Appeal Court
Circuit Court- Appeal Court
District Court- Trial Court
What does appeal mean?
Court reviews the decisions made by lower courts
What is the Court of Final Appeal?
The Supreme Court
Trail courts are at what level?
District level
What is Jurisdiction?
The authority to hear and decide a case
What is Exclusive Jurisdiction!
Only federal courts can hear and decide a case
What is Concurrent Jurisdiction?
When both federal and state courts can hear and decide on a case

Who can Congress impeach?
All government officials
What is the presidents main job?
To enforce the laws
