A

A
  • born during time where Hebrew sons would be killed
  • saved by mother - river - found+raised by Pharoahs daughter
  • gained education + leadership skills
  • developped concern for human injustice, irrespective of race

A

centers on Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt + reaffirming their Covenant with God

Q: What was Moses commanded by God to do?

A
  • encounters God in burning bush: gains prophetic role of fighting injustices
  • God commanded to rescue: “So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” —Exodus 3:10

  • sent ten plagues
  • final plague: killed firstborn of every family including Pharoah’s
  • Angel of death would “Passover” homes if doorframes smeared with lambs blood - passover tradition

Why is Mt Sinai significant?

A
  • reaffirms covenant: “Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession” (Exodus 19:5)
  • symbolises God’s desire for a more personal relationship with Israelites
  • Moses recieve Torah/10 commandments (core of Jewish tradition)
