Joints & ligaments Flashcards
What is Hinton’s law?
A movable joint is innervated by articular branches of the nerves which supply the muscles acting on that joint.
What are the 5 ligaments of the hip joint?
- fibrous joint capsule
- iliofemoral ligament
- ischiofemoral ligament
- pubofemoral ligament
- ligament of the head of the femur
What ligament must be stretched in order to do the splits?
iliofemoral ligament
What are the two articular surfaces of the knee joint?
patellar-femoral
tibial-femoral
What are the 7 ligaments of the knee?
fibrous portion of the joint capsule collateral ligaments --lateral collateral ligament --medial collateral ligament quadriceps tendon/patellar ligament cruciate ligaments --anterior cruciate ligament --posterior cruciate ligament popliteal ligaments
Is the lateral collateral ligament attached to the lateral meniscus?
no
Is the medial collateral ligament attached to the medial meniscus?
yes
What bones make up the “true” ankle joint?
tibia, fibula, talus
What bones make up the subtalar joint?
talus, calcaneus, navicular
What 3 ligaments are present on the lateral side of the ankle?
anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL)
calcaneofibular ligament (CFL)
posterior talofibular ligament (PTFL)
What ligament is present on the medial side of the ankle?
deltoid ligament
