Joints Flashcards
Name the parts of the bone that form the articulations in the ankle?
Tibia – distal (plafond) and medial malleolus
Fibula – lateral malleolus
Talus – trochlear surface (dome) with tibial plafond
Describe the fibrous capsular attachments in the ankle
Above the medial and lateral malleoli to the posterior and lateral surfaces of the talus and neck of the talus anteriorly.
Weak anteriorly and posteriorly but strengthened medially and laterally by ligaments
Name the ligaments and describe their attachments in the ankle?
Medial collateral – from the medial malleoli fanning out to attach to the navicular, talus and calcaneous (Deltoid)
Lateral collateral – from the lateral malleoli in three bands
Anterior talofibular (ATFL)
Calcaneofibular
Posterior talofibular
Name the parts of the bone that form the articulations in the elbow
Humerus - capitulum - trochlea Radial head Trochlea notch ulna Radial notch of the ulna
Describe the fibrous capsular attachments in the elbow
Humerus - epicondyles - covers articular surfaces - above fossas Ulna - olecranon - coronoid Radius - annular ligament and neck ligaments
Name the ligaments and describe their attachments in the elbow
Medial collateral - medial epicondyle to olecranon and coronoid of ulna
Lateral collateral - lateral epicondyle to annular ligament
Name the parts of the bone that form the articulations in the wrist
Distal end of the radius with the scaphoid and lunate
Articular disc with the lunate & triquetral
Describe the fibrous capsular attachments in the wrist
Distal end of the radius and ulna
Margins of the joint disc
Proximal end of scaphoid, lunate and triquetral
Name the ligaments and describe their attachments in the wrist
Supporting ligaments Palmar radio carpal Palmar ulno carpal Dorsal radio carpal Radial collateral Ulna collateral
Name the parts of the bone that form the articulations in the Knee
Femoral condyles with the condyles of the Tibia (Tibia Plateaus) - Articular surface of the patellar with the patellar surface of the femur
Describe the fibrous capsular attachments in the knee
Medial meniscus. Lateral meniscus, Anterior cruciate posterior cruciate, (Popliteal tendon)
Name the ligaments and describe their attachments in the knee
Margins of the articular surfaces of the femur. Margins of the articular surfaces of the tibia and fibula head. Anteriorly formed by the patelar and its ligament
Name the bones that form the articulations with in the Hip
Head of femur
Acetabulum
Describe the fibrous capsular attachments in the hip
The edge of the acetabulum
Including the transverse acetabular ligament
To the neck of the femur to the intertrochanteric line anteriorly
The capsule is loose inferiorly
Name the ligaments and their attachments in the hip
Intracapsular:
Acetabulur labrum
Ligamentum teres
Transverse acetabular ligament
Extracapsular:
Ilio femoral ligament
Pubo femoral ligament
Ischio femoral ligament
