3 Ligaments Flashcards
Describe the hip joint including naming the intracapsular structures (1.5 marks) and extracapsular ligaments (1.5 marks).
Intracapsular:
• Acetabulur labrum
• Ligamentum teres
• Transverse acetabular ligament
Extracapsular: • Ilio femoral lig. • Pubo femoral lig. • Ischio femoral lig.
Describe the knee joint by describing the attachments of the fibrous capsule (3.5 marks).
MARGINS OF THE ARTICULAR SURFACES OF THE FEMUR.MARGINS OF THE ARTICULAR SURFACES OF THE TIBIA AND FIBULA HEAD. ANTERIORLY FORMED BY THE PATELLAR AND ITS LIGAMENT (3.5 marks)
Describe the radio-ulna-humeral joint (elbow) by naming the ligaments and describing their attachments (2 marks).
Ligaments:
Medial collateral - medial epicondyle to olecranon and coronoid of ulna
Lateral collateral - lateral epicondyle to annular ligament
Describe the talo-tibial joint (ankle) by naming the ligaments and describing their attachments (2 marks).
Ligaments:
Medial collateral – from the medial malleoli fanning out to attach to the navicular, talus and calcaneous (Deltoid)
Lateral collateral – from the lateral malleoli in three bands
Anterior talofibular (ATFL)
Calcaneofibular
Posterior talofibular
Describe the radio carpal joint (wrist) by naming two supporting ligaments (1 mark).
