2 Articular Capsule Attachments Flashcards
Describe the hip joint including, describing the articular capsule attachments
Capsular attachments
• The edge of the acetabulum
• Including the transverse acetabular ligament
• To the neck of the femur to the intertrochanteric line anteriorly.
• The capsule is loose inferiorly
Describe the knee joint by naming the intracapsular structures
WRONG
FEMORAL CONDYLES WITH THE CONDYLES OF THE TIBIA (TIBIAL PLATEAUS) - ARTICULAR SURFACE OF THE PATELLAR WITH THE PATELLAR SURFACE OF THE FEMUR
Describe the radio-ulna-humeral joint (elbow) by describing the fibrous capsular attachments
Capsule:
Humerus – epicondyles - covers articular surfaces - above fossas
Ulna - olecranon - coronoid
Radius - annular ligament and neck ligaments
Describe the talo-tibial joint (ankle) by describing the fibrous capsular attachments
Capsule:
Above the medial and lateral malleoli to the posterior and lateral surfaces of the talus and neck of the talus anteriorly.
Weak anteriorly and posteriorly but strengthened medially and laterally by ligaments
Describe the radio carpal (wrist) joint by describing the fibrous capsular attachment
Articular capsule attachment
Distal end of the radius and ulna
Margins of the joint disc
Proximal end of scaphoid, lunate and triquetral
