Origins of ET-A and ET-B?

What is more associated with SSSS?

A

ET-A - Gene carried by a bacteriophage that has infected and integrated into staph DNA. Causes Impetigo type lesions.

ET-B - Comes on a plasmid - 5% of all staph have it. It is more associated with SSSS

A

Embilical chord infection with staph.

Catalase test

A

Strep is neg: they use peroxidase with NADH, only by product is water.
Staph is pod: they use catalase which make O2 as a by product
