List the circumstances in which you would prepare a job sheet.
- attend an incident and speak to victims/witnesses/suspects
- secure exhibits while at an incident
- assist other police officers
- assist other emergency services
- note details or draw a diagram of a scene
- door to door inquiries
- compile a list of further inquiries you need to make
State the purpose and use of a job sheet
Job sheets are an official record, chronologically listed, of action taken, informations gathered, people spoken to an exhibits seized.
They should be completed daily on files under investigation. They enable:
Methodical planning
Supervisors to monitor the progress
Other investigators involved to review the whole investigation
Information recorded in your notebook to be transposed into a formatted police document that can be attached to the file.
Identify some suitable and unsuitable comments in a job sheet
Opinions are not allowed in job sheets
If you believe the person my reoffend, that can be included in the job sheet
State the definition of area inquiries
These are enquiries made in the area after an offence to try to locate witnesses to that offence; for example, after a burgs of a house, the neighbours are spike to in case they’ve seen or heard anything suspicious.
