Job Attitude
Feelings and beliefs about one’s job, organization, supervisor, or another aspect of the workplace and includes:
- belief
- feelings
- intentions
Job Satisfaction
Pleasurable, positive emotional state resulting from the cognitive appraisal of one’s job or job experience
Five elements of job satisfaction (WOPPS)
- work itself
- promotion opportunities
- pay
- supervision
- satisfaction of coworkers
Organizational Commitment
~ the degree to which the employee identifies with and feels involved in the organization.
- affective (emotional attachment)
- continuance (perceived cost of leaving org)
- normative (obligation to remain)
Affective Events Theory
work behavior is dynamic, and changes often results from emotionally charged situations
Broaden and build theory
a positive emotional experience can lead to resource gathering behaviors that result in greater rewards and more positive emotional experiences
a matrix organizational structure is characterized by Employees have two bosses:
