Storage of Flammable Liquids.

A

Zone 2 for the Storage Enclosure.

“A place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture of air with a flammable substance in the form of a gas, vapour or mist is not likely to occur in normal operation, but if it does occur, it will persist for a short period only.”

High and Low ventilation needs to be kept unobstructed at all times.

Ex Signage is required to be fitted to the enclosure door.

Suitable Hazardous Area Classification drawings should be produced for the zoned areas.

Storage of Flammable Gases - External Gas Cages

A

Zone 2 for the individual Acetylene Cage (once put in place).

Zone 2 for the individual Propane Cage (once put in place).

Ex signage is required to be fitted to the cages.

A

Zone 2 inside each cabinet.

Storage of Diesel and Gas Oil (Red Diesel). Tanks

A

Zone 0/1 in the head space of all tanks.

Zone 2 extending 0.5m radius in all directions from any tank vents.

Zone 0 - A place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture of air with a flammable substance in the form of a gas, vapour or mist is present continuously, frequently or for long periods.

Zone 1 - A place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture of air with a flammable substance in the form of a gas, vapour or mist is likely to occur during normal operation occasionally.

Zone 2 - A place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture of air with a flammable substance in the form of a gas, vapour or mist is not likely to occur in normal operation, but if it does occur, it will persist for a short period only

Ex Signage is required to be fitted to the tanks above ground and the tank vents for the tanks below ground.
