JMurph1094 Cell Control Measures Flashcards

1
Q

Propane - Used for Hot Work/Cutting/
Burning.

A

Used by trained staff.

Propane cannot be stored in the same cage as Acetylene.

Cages should be at least 4m from buildings and perimeter fences.

FOR EXTERNAL STORAGE CAGE
1) Incompatible gases must be separated, Propane cannot be stored with Acetylene and Oxygen cannot be stored with Inert gases.

2) Cages must have a separation distance of at least 3m, if this cannot be achieved, a 215mm blast wall which extends above the tallest cylinder must be installed.

3) To protect the cylinder base from corrosion, they should be raised off the floor slightly by means of a metal grate or the ground should be slightly sloped to allow water during any inclement weather to run away.

4) Cylinders should be protected from direct sunlight.
Vehicles should not be parked within 5m of these cages.

5) Cages should be locked with suitable warning and Ex signage (for flammables) fitted.

6) Cages should be protected from vehicle impact.
