Petrol Tank Refuelling.
A written Safe Operating Procedure (SOP) for this process should be developed before the tank is commissioned.
The business should ensure the tanker delivery driver from the fuel supply company has up to date ADR Training and an understanding of potentially explosives atmospheres.
The business should have a copy of the Safe Working Procedure from the fuel supply company for the delivery of fuels.
Earth bonding should be in place before any fuel is transferred.
The site representative (Supervisor or Team Leader) should be appropriately trained in DSEAR Awareness so any hazards before or during the transfer can be noted and if need be, the delivery stopped.
The tank should be fitted with High and High-High level alarms which would stop the tanks being overfilled.
An appropriate ATEX approved level indicator should be fitted to the tank.
All persons at the location of the delivery should be in anti-static overalls and anti-static footwear.

Welding
It is recommended that the advice given in the RISC Authority guidance document RC7 Recommendation for Hot Works, is implemented in full.

The welding area should be located in an area which is away any fuel areas such as the gas isolation valve.
Safety screens should be used when any welding takes places.
A pre start user check on all equipment should be in place.
Welding should be carried out under LEV.
