How was defined Success, No evidence of succes and failure?
successful: if the periodontal ligament space was normal and possible preoperative root resorption, if present, had ceased.
No evidence of failure: if possible preoperative root resorption had ceased but a preexisting periapical lesion had remained the same or only decreased in size and not complete resolved.
Failure: if a periapical lesion or root resorption developed subsequent to endodontic treatment, if a preexisting periapical lesion had increased in size, or if possible preoperative root resorption appeared to continue after endodontic treatment.
What was the rate of success, NEF, failure?
Successful for 87 (69%) roots,
No evidence of failure for 33 (26%) roots
Failure: 7 (6%) roots.
Which teeth has more RCT success?
MxPM4 > Canines, MnPM4, MnM1
Which factors were associated with higher risk of failure?
preexisting periapical lucency
preexisting root resorption
preoperative pulp necrosis (but only near cutoff for significance)
Which of the following influenced risk of success?
- Age
- Breed size
- Complicated crown-root fracture
- Overfilled
- Apical void
- Pre intracanal medication
