What was James’ hygiene fashion and manners like?
He wore extra layers in case someone tried to assassinate him
He swore all the time, picked his nose and wiped it on his sleeve and he never washed
What were his thoughts on kingship like?
He believed in the Divine Right of Kings which meant God had chosen him do be King and that he could do no wrong!
What was his relationship with parliament like?
James fell out with Parliament over money as he wanted them to collect money for him; they didn’t so he sent them away for 10 years
What were his interests?
He was clever and wrote a couple of books, his favourite subject in school was witchcraft. He also wrote about the dangers of tobacco
What did James do to make some Protestants turn to terrorism?
He married a catholic princess when the country was Protestant and made some catholic rules to try to be a peacemaker
