The Cavalry (horse-back soldiers and good armour (usually rich))
Pikemen (16ft pikes but not mobile)

Charles I started the war as he raised his standard in Nottingham (declared war)
Who was the war between?
The Parliamentarians and the Royalists
Was Charles guilty?
Yes he was as he declared war against parliament which was an act of treason
Who declared war and why?
Charles, because parliament didn’t give him money so sent them away for 11years and also because parliament passed the Petition of Right which aimed to limit the King’s power
What tax did Charles introduce and why would it benefit him?
Ship tax

What was the parliamentarian’s army called?
The new model army
Why did some people think Charles trial was unfair?
135 commissioners should’ve turned up but only 68 turned up. All of the commissioners didn’t come as killing a king was regicidal and thought something could happen to them.
