Describe Jamaica station
- 11 main tracks
- 0-10 North to south
- track 11 is completely interlocked to Jamaica ( hall begins where Jay ends)
- tracks 1-8 are station tracks
- 0,9,10 are main tracks, not station tracks
- 5 station platforms - A through E north to south
- STATIONMASTER- located on the east end overpass
- YARDMASTER ( Yard 1) - located in trailer south of Johnson Ave lead, East of Jamaica station
- E/B Wheelhouse- located east end of platform D
- W/B Wheelhouse- located west end of platform B
- E/B Information- located east end of the platform E
- W/B Information- located east end of the platform B
Describe Jay’s easterly limits
- 3,5,8 - suspended westbound low homes
- 0,2,4,6,9- westbound low homes on ground
- 7 - westbound Low home on pole (just west of Jamaica station)
- 1- westbound color light low home on ground
- 10- West bound free standing position light west of Jamaica station
- 11- West bound low home on ground (West of Johnson Avenue lead)
- 5D and 4D - both share a Westbound low home
- 3D, 2D, and 1D - each has its own westbound low home
Describe halls westerly limit
- 1,4,6,7 - suspended eastbound low homes
- 0,3,5,8,9,10,11 - eastbound low homes on ground
- 2- eastbound low home on pole (just East of Jamaica station)
- Yard D - eastbound color light low home governs all eastward moves
Yard D
• located north of 0 track in Jamaica
• 1-5 track south to north
• third rail all tracks
• automatic safety switches
• East end- One signal ( eastbound color light low home HW) governs all Eastbound moves. Conductor or Engineer must call yard 1 for permission to the signal. The train me then proceed upon signal indication. (it is not necessary to contact JCC)
• West end
Tracks 1,2- each has its own westbound low home and derail
Track 3- West bound low home ( no derail)
Track 4,5- share one low home and one derail. These tracks are joined by an automatic safety switch on the west end. Westbound trains leaving from 4D or 5D will contact yard 1 for permission up to the signal and will confirm with JCC – Jay to ascertain if the signal is displayed for their train. JCC Controls all signals on west end (JE)
• restricted speed not to exceed 10 mph
Yard E
- located east of Jamaica station between ATL 1 and ATL 2
- 2 tracks- 2E and 3E North to south
- third rail all tracks
- each track is protected by a westbound low home controlled by JCC
- 2E holds 6 MU’s and 3E holds 4 MU’s
- bumping blocks on east end of both tracks
- E yard is accessible from 4 or 5 station only
Johnson Avenue yard
- located south of 11 track Jamaica
- 3-4 tracks north to south
- third rail all tracks
- automatic safety switches
- Johnson Avenue lead is south of 11 track and is protected by a Derail and an eastbound low home controlled by JCC (HW)
- armor siding is an eastbound trailing point hand operated switch on the Johnson Avenue lead ( only hand operated switch in Jamaica) no third rail
- Restricted speed not to exceed 10 mph
- contact Jamaica yardmaster ( yard 1) - Channel one
Receiving yards
- located west of Jamaica station, north of the west bound Montauk
- 1-8 tracks south to north
- no third rail
- automatic safety switches
- restricted speed not to exceed 5 mph
- contact Jamaica storage yard master (yard 3) -Channel 3
Advance yard
- located west of Jamaica station, north of the receiving yard
- track 1,2,4-6 north to south
- third rail no. 6 track only
- automatic safety switches
- tracks 1,2 M of E tracks
- tracks 4,5 M of E / transportation transfer tracks
- track 6 - transportation track( wash track) flashing yellow light for eastbound train indicates train to be washed, unless otherwise instructed, restricted speed not to exceed 3 mph
- restricted speed not to exceed 5 mph

Jamaica storage yard
- located west of the advance yard and the receiving yard
- tracks 1-17 South to north ( no track 11)
- third rail no. 1 and no. 4 tracks only
- automatic safety switches
- tracks 9-17 M of E tracks
- tracks 14-17 Sheridan shop tracks (enclosed)
- high level platform- West end, north side of track 8
- restricted speed not to exceed 5 mph

Hill side yard
- located east of hall interlocking and south of the mainline 4
- tracks 1–7 north to south
- third rail all tracks
- automatic safety switches
- accessible traveling east on 10 track. East bound train must stop at the stop board and proceed only after obtaining permission from Hillside yardmaster (yard 2) to enter yard
- eastward trains on 11 track must utilize the dual control crossover just west of the Montauk viaduct due to M of E cross ties on track 11
- westbound trains must stop at the stop board on Hollis lead located opposite eastbound pedestal signal and proceed only after obtaining permission from Hillside yardmaster ( yard 2) before entering hill side yard or holban bypass track
- three transfer tracks – A, B, M
- M is south of hillside lead/ A and B are south of yard track 7.
- all trains entering or departing hill side yard and/ or Hollis lead must sound rule 14 L
- restricted speed not to exceed 10 mph
- contact Hillside yardmaster (yard 2) Channel 1
Westbound Montauk
- located west of Jamaica station, south of the receiving yard
- runs upgrade for westbound trains from the east end of the receiving yard and trails into where 10 extension becomes LIRR secondary No. 1 ( at an interlock switch controlled by JCC)
- no third rail
East layup
- located east of Jamaica station, just south of where ATL 2 descends to The under jump opposite former hall tower
- becomes Montauk 2 east of the Hall interlocking
- protected on the east and west end by low home signals controlled by JCC
- holds 6 MU’s
West layup
- located east of Jamaica station and it extends West from the pocket and trails into mainline 1 just west of the meat house signal bridge
- on the east end by and eastbound low home controlled by JCC and on the west and by a westbound color light low home controlled by JCC
- Holds 6 MU’s
- located east of Jamaica station between Montauk 1 and 2 E. of signal bridge 98
- The west end is protected by a westbound low home controlled by the JCC (he) , And there is a bumping block on the east end
- Holds 12 MU’s
Eastbound Brooklyn freight
- begins with an eastbound facing point switch to the south of ATL 4 ( controlled by JCC) and trails into 11 track at an interlocked switch controlled by JCC.
- protected on East and buy an eastbound low home controlled by JCC( JW) and on the west end by a westbound low home controlled by JCC (DE)
- Holds 24 MU’s
