what is a vesicant?
a drug that can cause severe tissue damage if the catheter tip falls out of the vein
What types of drugs are vesicants?
vasopressors, anthracyclines (doxorubicin), vinca alkaloids, digoxin, foscarnet, nafcillin, mannitol, promethazine
How should promethazine be administered
Via central line! Vesicant!
