A
apply tourniquet and select vein release tourniquet HH Open IV cath package prime connector with saline and prepare tape scrub vein with chlorhexadine and dry re apply tourniquet glove up

what are the steps when inserting the catheter
A
anchor vein
pierce skin
observe blood return
lower needle and advance both catheter and needle unit slightly
advance catheter off needle and observe for more blood return
release tourniquet

when piercing the skin where should stylet bevel be
A
facing up

what angle should the needle be inserted
A
at an angle of no greater than 5 degrees
